Update - K-12 School Start Date
Assalamo Alaikom, Dear Lion Parents!
Eid Mubarak to all of you! We hope that you are all doing well and staying safe, inshaAllah.
Please read below for a very important update concerning K-12 parents.
On 7/28 Texas Education Agency (TEA) released a series of revisions to the previously revised guidelines about school safety. Additionally, on 7/31, the office of the governor also provided additional clarification on some of the guidelines that were previously left vague. Lastly, over the past couple of weeks, a number of the local independent school districts (Alief ISD, Fort Bend ISD, Houston ISD, Katy ISD, and Spring Branch ISD) released revised academic calendars for the 2020-2021 school year. In order to ensure that we have full compliance with all revised guidelines and to eliminate part of the (up to) two-week disparity between the instructional time at Al-Hadi and the aforementioned school districts, we have made the decision to push the school start date to Wednesday, August 12th, 2020.
We will communicate any additional changes that may occur to offset more of the excess of instructional days. We are exploring the possibility of having, spread through the Fall semester, some early release days, or extended weekends to allow for any necessary pedagogical adjustments to be made to our instructional model.
This two-day delayed start will have some additional benefits also:
- Allowing for our IT team to conduct additional beta testing of the learning platform to ensure a smooth start
- Distributing the login and passwords to the registered students after completion of testing in a more targeted approach.
- Creating and distributing additional supply packages to families
- Ensuring more families have their technology needs met for virtual instruction
