If you discipline a child, leave him room to turn away from his wrong action so that you do not leave him with stubbornness as his only way out. - Imam Ali (as)

Principal's Message

A Message from Our Principal, Dr. Humaira Bokhari

Accomplishment starts with a decision to try.

August 2017

Assalaamu alaikum,

 Welcome to the start of an amazing new year.  The start of the school year is a time of both excitement and nervousness.  Teachers have spent weeks preparing to launch a new year… with new students, new techniques, new tools and renewed hopes of making an impact on the lives of the young people with whom they will spend hundreds of hours over the next 10 months.  It is an opportunity to open new doors and pathways that will lead to unforgettable experiences.

At Al-Hadi, in partnership with our families and community, we are creating a culture of college readiness, where everyone is a learner.

Within the next several days, we will open our school doors to welcome you to the new academic year.  Together, we will create a year of excellence for our children as we focus on improving student and family engagement. We will continue to focus on making our vision and mission the core of our daily work with children, teachers and parents. We claim that we are creating a culture of college readiness and this is the year we will build shared understandings about what this means and ways parents and teachers can work together to ensure that every AHS student is college ready.

Our expectations are high this year. They are high for me as the principal, for all Al-Hadi staff and faculty and they are very high for each boy, girl, and parent in our community.Parents, it is very important that children are present and on time every day! Instructions begin at 8:00 am sharp! Children who arrive after 7:55 am will be marked late! If we want our children to be college ready, we must ensure they do not miss instruction. Excellent attendance is the first step to helping our children become college ready. The Al-Hadi curriculum is rigorous and requires that students be present and on time for school, in order to do their best. Rest assured, your children would not want to miss a single moment of the first course of the day.

The TEKS Standards provide a consistent, clear understanding of what students are expected to learn, so teachers and parents know what they need to do to help them. The standards are designed to be robust and relevant to the real world, reflecting the knowledge and skills that our young people need for success in college and careers.

In order for our children to achieve these standards, we expect you to create a culture of learning at home. We will support you with this by inviting you to participate in parent teacher conferences and to communicate with the teachers on a regular basis.

Your primary goal this year parents is to help us help your children achieve at least 96% attendance (State requirements are 90%), at least 85% subject mastery, and 100% homework completion. Specifically, I am asking that you partner with us in increasing the academic progress of your child by doing the following:

1.       Limit the amount of television watching each day;

2.       Make sure that your child is well rested by having a set bedtime each evening;

3.       Monitor and support your child’s reading, mathematics and writing at home

4.   Make sure that your child has a quiet place to complete homework and has support with the work. If your child needs help and does not have support at home be sure to ask for help;

5.      Attend parent teacher conference to learn about your child’s areas of strengths and areas that need support; and

6.      Reinforce the AHS expectation that your child come to school ready to follow school rules, listen to adults, and be productive citizens in the AHS teaching and learning community.

This year, we will continue to reinforce 100% compliance with our school uniform policy as a part of our efforts to continue improving the learning climate and safety of our school. There will be NO ‘free uniform’ days. Children must wear their school uniform every day!   Only Juniors and Seniors will have the privilege to have a ‘free uniform day’ on Friday. Please support the school policy and ensure your child/ren are in complete compliance.

The girls PE uniform has changed.  Attached is the link to East Essence

 Please order the girls PE shirts directly from the website.  Sizes are available in the office for parents.

Help and support us as we raise our standards and expectations.

In addition, please partner with Al-Hadi PTO to volunteer.  Sign up for different events or spend time in the library or organizing events and off course fundraising.  There will be many opportunities for you to partner with the school.

We are excited to welcome onboard Sr. Syeda Shumail Batool as Student Services & Events Coordinator and Br. Ahmed Azzawi as a Science teacher for Middle school.

Finally, as the principal of Al-Hadi I will be working closely with the learning community with the aim of confronting mediocrity and creating a culture of professionalism and excellence. We have a lot to be excited about as we continue our learning journey

I sincerely look forward to your continued cooperation and support.  Do not hesitate to call or email me if you have any concerns or questions.

Please take time to read the Student Parent Handbook so that you can learn about our expectations and the very important work we will do together this year.

Let’s make 2017-18 the BEST YEAR YET.
